01 · Our Systems

Premium equipment, built for Los Angeles water.

Every part of a Pacific Water Co system is individually NSF certified: the control valve, the pressure tank, the softening resin, the carbon, and the gravel bed underneath it. Nothing is a mystery blend preloaded overseas and dropped into a box, which is how a lot of national brand equipment reaches a driveway.

That matters because what goes into your tank is what decides everything you will actually notice. How soft the water feels. Whether your pressure holds when two showers run. How many years pass before anything needs attention. We publish exactly what is inside, because the inside is the product.

02 · The Complete System

Whole home softener and filtration

One tank softens and filters every tap in the house, hot and cold, kitchen and shower and laundry alike. We set it wherever your main line makes sense: against an exterior wall, the garage, or a utility closet. Here is what is in it.

Component 01

Metered control valve

The valve meters your actual water use instead of running on a clock, so the system regenerates only when it needs to and wastes no salt or water. Long term memory holds your program settings, with a 72 hour backup if the power drops. The valve is covered for five years.

Component 02

USA made softening resin

10% crosslinked resin, made in the USA. The units sold at big box stores typically run 4%. The heavier crosslink resists chlorine and oxidation, so the bed lasts years longer, and it carries high flow soft water through the house with no loss of pressure.

Component 03

Jacobi coconut shell carbon

Premium granular activated carbon from Jacobi, made from coconut shells grown in arsenic free soil. It takes out chlorine and chloramine, plus VOCs, PFAs and the chemicals and heavy metals that travel with them.

Component 04

Polishing gravel bed

An NSF certified gravel bed supports the resin above it and spreads water evenly across the full width of the tank. That even distribution is what prevents channeling, the narrow shortcut water will otherwise carve through the media and quietly stop treating anything.

06 · The Stages

Seven stages, right before your glass.

What each stage does, what comes out of the water, and what the faucet looks like on your counter.

7 stage HW800 AlkaPro

  1. Sediment prefilter. A 5 micron screen catches suspended grit before anything else sees it.
  2. Carbon block. First chlorine and chemical pass.
  3. Second carbon block. A deeper pass before the membrane, and longer membrane life because of it.
  4. RO membrane. 800 gallons per day, made on demand with no storage tank.
  5. Post carbon. Taste and odor polish on the way out.
  6. Alkaline remineralization. Built into the unit rather than added as a separate cartridge.
  7. Final carbon pass. The gentlest stage sits last, right before your glass.

07 · Straight Answers

Two questions everybody asks.

Is this the same thing as a $7,000 system?

In hardware terms, largely yes. A water softener is a fiberglass tank, a bed of NSF certified resin, and a metered control valve. That is the whole machine. Ours are built from the better end of each of those, and we will put the spec sheets next to anyone's.

Most of the price spread in this industry is sales overhead, not better equipment. Commissioned reps, in home demonstrations, financing spreads, and the pressure to close on the first visit all get paid for out of the number on the contract. We do not run that model, so the number is smaller.

Do I need the bigger one?

Usually not, and not for the reason most people assume. Every system we build moves 28 gallons per minute, more than double the industry standard, so the Standard keeps up with a house of any size. The bigger tanks simply hold more media, which stretches the time between regenerations and means you add salt less often.

If a larger unit would not change anything at your house, we will tell you that instead of selling it to you.
